Atlantic City Concert Review
January 1998

written by frequent site-visitor and happy concert-goer Ron

We have returned home from a great trip to Atlantic City. The trip was fun and the gambling was a novelty for us. It was a little overwhelming. We saw Jay Leno walking on the boardwalk Saturday afternoon!

However, the true highlight was Phoebe! We went to the 7:30 show. It was general admission and the seating started at 6:30. We got there early and were about 15th in line. WE GOT CENTER STAGE FRONT ROW SEATS!!! My arm was resting on the stage!!

Phoebe opened with a rousing rendition of the old Bobby Lewis standard "Tossin' and Turnin'" and she never let up. She had the audience in the palm of her hand for the entire show. The range of her voice is even more impressive live.

She has a new CD coming out next month on House of Blues records. In it she does covers songs of artists who influenced her. Three of the songs she performed are on it: "A Brand New Me" originally by Dusty Springfield, Joni Mitchell's "A Case of You" and Janis Joplin's "Piece of My Heart". She also performed: "Poetry Man"(which was as fresh today as the first time I heard it!), "Shakey Ground", "Rockin' Pneumonia and the Boogie Woogie Flu", and "Every Night" among others. She brought down the house with her rendition of "At Last" and also dedicated the Aerosmith song "Angel" to her daughter Valerie. The encore was a medley of "Let the Good Times Roll" and "Gone At Last".

I am thrilled that I finally got to see her live.

Rick's Review of the Alexandria, Virginia Concert

Just a quick note on a recent appearance at the Birchmere in Alexandria, Virginia. The set list was almost identical to the Atlantic City gig in January. She was in fine form, extremely loose, funny and took some requests. She said she was nervous about a song she hadn't performed in over 20 years. A ten minute version of Two-Fisted Love followed. She even did a minute or so of an aria. Opera lessons are her new love too. A fantastic show!

And Meredith was there...

I saw Phoebe Snow perform on Friday night, May 1st at The Birchmere in Alexandria, Va. To say it was an awesome show is an understatement! She blew us out of our seats and blew the roof off! She is by far my all time idol in life!!
